Ann Gaasch, Executive Director
With more than 20 years of experience working with families and children, Ann Gaasch has provided leadership on community and national family service initiatives. Her extensive experience includes program leadership at The Bridge for Youth, St. Paul/Ramsey County Children’s Initiative, and the Tubman Family Alliance. After four years as the Program Director for FamilyWise, Ann was named Executive Director in October 2013. She has a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College, and a master’s degree in counseling and psychology from St. Mary’s University.

Bernell E. Buchanan, Associate Director
Bernell has a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She has a varied background in organizational management and finance in nonprofit organizations, the public accounting sector as a former certified public accountant (CPA), and also with private corporations. Bernell has been involved with FamilyWise since 2003, first as a consultant, then as director of finance & development, interim executive director, and now as the agency’s associate director.

Mary Black, Program Director
Mary has extensive experience in nonprofit management. She served as the Manager of Child, Youth and Family Support Services at Tubman, where she developed an innovative school relationship violence prevention program. She also served as the Education and Employment Program Manager at the Jeremiah Program. Mary also brings human resources and sales experience as a Sales Account Manager with Pepsi Bottling Group. Mary has a B.A. in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota.

Anna VonRueden, Youth Services Program Manager
Anna is a Credentialed Coach in High Fidelity Wraparound and began working with at-risk youth in 2004. Anna attended UW-Eau Claire for criminal justice and worked in various treatment settings throughout Wisconsin before settling into Wraparound Milwaukee in 2008. She served as a member of the Wisconsin State Juvenile Justice Association for 4 years and as a supervisor for Wraparound Milwaukee from 2009 – 2013.

Bea Pfeiffer, Childcare Services Manager
Bea Pfeiffer is credentialed by the National Child Development Association and has been working in child development since 1997, including being a center manager and lead teacher. Bea also has experience working at teen homeless shelters. She has been with FamilyWise since 1999.

Char Johnson, Parent Support Services Manager
Char comes to FamilyWise from EMERGE, where she worked as a Program Manager and Lead Family Advocate. Throughout her experience in the human service field she has worked with youth, adults and family units – developing a broad range of skills including budgeting for multiple programs, human resources management, crisis intervention and resource counseling.

Glorina Fruetel, Supervised Visitation Manager
“We are one conversation away from understanding and sometimes the conversation begins with silence and positioning oneself in proximity of another so as to listen to the heart and not just the words.”
With roots in relational and systemic beliefs Glorina Fruetel strives to support and encourage families to embrace their unique and authentic selves. She began her journey 20-years ago while working as a Behavior Analyst. Gaining experience in working with families who have children with varied degrees of disabilities strengthened her passion to continue her work with families who are experiencing varied degrees of disruption. After providing 9 years of oversight to Guardians and Conservators she felt the need to further her education and obtained her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her education and experience enabled her to move from her part time position at FamilyWise to the full time Program Manager of the Supervised Visitation Program.
