The FamilyWise mission is building momentum. After a year of exploration and conversation, our Board of Directors has voted to approve a merger with Minnesota Communities Caring for Children (MCCC), effective July 1.
FamilyWise and MCCC have long been likeminded partners, with MCCC being a leader in child abuse prevention and parent empowerment through its peer-led support groups, mentorship, and a widely respected training platform that builds the resilience of communities in supporting families.
FamilyWise has always focused on innovating and strengthening our programs. This merger does just that: as one unified organization, we will create a circle of care that wraps around families to keep kids safe and healthy.
MCCC’s strengths will sharpen areas FamilyWise has prioritized in our strategic plan:
- Training, specifically to build the impact of informal supports for families in our programs
- Parent leadership
Staff-wise, our team will expand to include current MCCC staff, and Ann Gaasch will continue as the Chief Executive Officer.
While our decision to merge came before COVID-19, we see our united organization even better equipped to meet the new challenges our parents and children face as we enter the recovery phase of the crisis.
