FamilyWise is pleased to announce that long-time partner The Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation has made a grant of $15,000 in support of Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Services. This service is for families experiencing high conflict and addresses safety concerns for victims of domestic violence and children who are at risk for abuse or neglect. Through this program, non-custodial parents can visit their children in a safe and nurturing environment that utilizes the model of supportive parenting time as defined by the Supervised Visitation Network. Investment by the Foundation will greatly further our agency mission to strengthen families and the community through programs that encourage self-determination, self-sufficiency, and healthy family lifestyles.
Last year, the support of the Foundation helped FamilyWise provide services to a greater number of families and at-risk individuals, increasing capacity by a significant 44%. FamilyWise served nearly 4,000 at-risk individuals through our intensive programming: 63% came from under-represented racial or ethnic groups and over 87% of the clients we served lived under 100% of poverty. FamilyWise’s reputation for expertise in culturally sensitive and competent services to some of Minnesota’s most vulnerable children and adults helps to reduce instances of homelessness, poverty, exploitation and violence.
